GENDLER & MANN FILES CIVIL RIGHT COMPLAINT IN FLORIDA FEDERAL COURT to challenge prison authorities' censorship of Prison Legal News, a magazine dedicated to educating prisoners regarding their legal rights. A Miami Herald article on the suit emphasized Gendler & Mann's belief that the purpose of the censorship is to protect a company's prison phone monopoly under which prison families are charged exorbitant phone rates, rather than any legitimate prison interest. COUNTY REVERSES WETLAND RULES CHANGE: Douglas County commissioners voted to reverse a change that weakened waterfront protection rules after a challenge from a citizen watchdog group.

"This measure was not adopted to protect the public welfare, but rather to compromise the public welfare for the benefit of one property owner," wrote Michael Gendler, a lawyer for the group's organizers, in a letter to the commissioners. See full Wenatchee World story
